Dr. Howard E. Friedman is a podiatrist and is a board-certified foot surgeon. He is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, certified in 1998 and recertified in 2007. He is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and of the American Professional Wound Care Association.
Dr. Friedman is on staff at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY.
He graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1994 and completed his residency training in foot surgery in 1996, serving also as chief resident. He continued at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine as an instructor and then as an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Friedman has been treating patients in his office in Suffern, NY full-time since June 2000. He treats children and adults providing both surgical and non-surgical care.
Dr. Friedman has published peer-reviewed articles on the topic of local anesthesia in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. He also authored an article on the topic of toe surgery for Podiatry Management magazine. He has written frequently for other publications including articles on foot care, orthotics and shoe and boot selection for hikers and backpackers. His articles have appeared in the Trail Walker, the official publication of the NY/NJ Trail Conference, www.nynjtc.org - as well as BackpackingLight. Dr. Friedman has also spoken on the topic of foot care for hikers at Eastern Mountain Sports in Nanuet, NY.
Dr. Friedman enjoys hiking in northern New Jersey and Harriman State Park in his spare time.
